TRAIN SAFETY SYSTEMS

The Federal Railroad Administration's (FRA) conclusion is that the two most important safety factors are working conditions and the incorporation of information technology into a clear and easy-to-use Human Machine Interface (HMI).

In Europe, the UIC Leaflet 612-0 has defined the driver/machine interface for locomotives as functional and system requirements for a driver's cab to be understood and executed as a harmonized HMI.

Our international R&D team works on the custom locomotive HMI solutions based on the specific customers' requirements.

TRACK DEFECTS DIAGNOSTICS

Track defect diagnostics (TDD) is based on the use of inertial measurement units (IMU) mounted on the axle boxes of the bogie. It provides a contactless measurement of railway surface flaws and short-wave roughnesses on the track in real-time at a speed of up to 215 mph. Four IMUs based on inertial MEMS-Sensors are mounted directly on axle-boxes of the bogie.

Being installed closely to the rail IMU is sensitive to the wheel dynamics caused by surface defects. The digital video system is mounted on the frame between the wheel pairs. TDD correlates the suspected irregularities to the video records and forms the logs and protocols of the testing.
